Windshield Replacement — St. Louis Metro

Cracked Windshield? We Replace It Where
Your Car Is Parked

A windshield isn't just a window. It's a structural part of your vehicle — it supports the roof in a rollover and it's what the passenger airbag pushes against when it deploys. That's why the glass has to be right, the bond has to be right, and the cameras behind it have to be recalibrated afterward. STL Auto Glass Pros replaces windshields on all makes and models across the St. Louis metro with OEM-quality glass, and we come to you. One call to (314) 502-1408 gets you a firm price before any work starts.

We match the glass to your exact year, make, model, and trim — including rain sensors, heated wiper parks, acoustic layers, heads-up display provisions, and camera mounts — then bond it with automotive urethane and tell you your safe drive-away time before we leave. If your vehicle has a windshield-mounted camera, ADAS recalibration is part of the job, not a line item you find out about at the end.

When a Repair Is Enough

Rock chips smaller than a quarter and short cracks can usually be filled with resin — faster and far cheaper than replacing. It has to be outside the driver's direct line of sight and not touching the edge of the glass.

When It Has To Be Replaced

Long cracks, damage at the edge of the glass, chips in the driver's sightline, or anything that's already spidered out. Damage spreads with temperature swings — a repairable chip can become a replacement after one cold night.

Why calibration matters

Your Safety Systems Are Looking Through That Glass

Lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control all read the road through a camera mounted to your windshield. Move the glass and you move the camera. Skip the recalibration and those systems can misjudge where the lane is or when to brake. We recalibrate to the manufacturer's specification as part of the replacement — included, not billed separately.

No shop visit

Every windshield we replace, we replace on site

Driveway, office lot, or roadside — we bring the glass, the tools, and the calibration equipment to wherever your car is parked, on either side of the river.

Windshield Replacement FAQ

Common Questions

How much does windshield replacement cost in St. Louis?

It depends on your vehicle's year, make, model, and trim, and on what's built into the glass — a rain sensor, heated wiper park, acoustic layer, heads-up display, or camera mount all change the price. ADAS calibration is included when your vehicle needs it rather than billed as a surprise add-on. Call or text (314) 502-1408 and you'll get a firm price before we start.

How long does a windshield replacement take?

Most windshield replacements take about 60 to 90 minutes on site. If your vehicle needs ADAS recalibration, add roughly 30 to 60 minutes on top. We do the whole job at your home, work, or roadside, so there's no shop visit and no waiting room.

How long before I can drive after a windshield replacement?

Your windshield is bonded with urethane adhesive, and that adhesive needs time to cure before the glass is structurally sound. Safe drive-away time depends on the adhesive used and the temperature that day, and it's longer in cold weather. Your technician gives you the specific time for your job before leaving — and it isn't a number to guess at, because the windshield is part of your vehicle's structure in a rollover.

Do I need ADAS calibration after my windshield is replaced?

If your vehicle has a forward-facing camera mounted to the windshield for lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, or adaptive cruise control, then yes. Moving that camera even slightly changes what it sees, so it has to be recalibrated to the manufacturer's specification. Tell us your year, make, and model when you call and we'll confirm whether yours needs it.

Can my windshield be repaired instead of replaced?

Often, yes — and it costs far less. Rock chips smaller than a quarter and cracks shorter than a few inches can usually be filled with resin, as long as the damage isn't directly in the driver's line of sight and hasn't reached the edge of the glass. Damage spreads with temperature swings, so a chip that's repairable today may need a full replacement after one cold St. Louis night. Send us a photo and we'll tell you which one you need.

What is OEM-quality glass, and is it the same as dealer glass?

OEM-quality glass is made to the same specifications as the glass your vehicle left the factory with — same thickness, same curve, same sensor and camera provisions — but it isn't sold under the carmaker's own branding. It fits and performs like the original at a lower price than dealer glass. If you specifically want dealer-branded OEM glass, tell us and we'll quote that instead.

Can you replace a windshield outside in a Missouri or Illinois winter?

Usually, with the right setup. Urethane adhesive needs dry conditions and a workable temperature to bond properly, so in cold or wet weather we look for a garage, carport, or covered spot. Cure time also runs longer when it's cold, which affects your safe drive-away time. Tell us where the vehicle will be parked when you book and we'll plan around it.

Do you replace windshields on both sides of the river?

Yes. We cover St. Louis City and County, St. Charles County, and the Illinois Metro East — including Belleville, Edwardsville, O'Fallon IL, Collinsville, Granite City, and Alton. Call (314) 502-1408 and we'll confirm service to your exact location.
